Spring Updates and Reminders

The birds are singing, the grass is growing, and we’re gearing up for spring madness here at the Walbacz homestead.

Most area tailgate markets have started, or will be starting soon, and my workload has increased exponentially, yay! So, in light of this busy season, I have a quick update and a few helpful past posts to get yourself garden and homestead ready this year.

First, I have new Spring and Summer Baking Classes posted for May and June – check out the In-Person Classes page for more info and signup links. We’ll be baking up scones, danishes, and bread as usual, and I’ve added a new Cake Decorating evening course for a larger group.

Second, signups are still open for the Summer Youth Baking Camp, but are going fast! Get in while you still can, and reach out with any questions.

And finally, here are some tips for getting your garden in gear for 2024:

Sheet Mulching 101

The Care and Keeping of Blackberries

Pruning and Thinning Perennials

March Garden Chores (y’know, if you’re really behind)

Planting Heirloom Seeds

Cool Spring Wild Edibles

All About Borage

Sunflowers and Sunflower Seeds

I’ll be back soon with a bigger update. Until then, happy homesteading, y’all!
