Sauerkraut fermentation complete (or at least as complete as I want this first batch to be)! I dig the light tanginess of this ferment, and look forward to piling it on some future wursts.
Laissez les bons temps rouler - happy Mardi Gras, y’all! It was king cake and coffee today for #fika , where I may have gone overboard on the sugaring (or maybe not enough 😜). Particularly happy with coloring the yellow sugar with saffron and turmeric. Delightful and very sweet 😁
We had ourselves a little truffle-making extravaganza for Valentine’s Day yesterday! Three flavors: dark chocolate brandy, dark chocolate Chambord (appropriately sprinkled with golden sanding sugar), and white chocolate cookies and cream, topped with crumbled Thin Mints. Sorry not sorry, best Valentine’s Day 🥰
Tuesday was my birthday, and because I said so, I made a candy roaster squash cheesecake (thanks, freezer preserving!). It’s not the prettiest, but it may just be the tastiest 😁
A leisurely Sunday was the perfect day to make some blood orange marmalade for these cold winter days indoors (and future hot summer days)! Might top a future birthday cheesecake with this bad boy next week - stay tuned! 😈
Mushrooms in a jar! Did you know you can grow your own oyster mushrooms in leftover coffee grounds? That’s what we’ve been up to for a couple of months now, and are finally seeing the fruits of our labor. Get yourself a gallon jar and some mushroom cultivator (we got ours at Fifth Season @5sasheville ), drink up, and start growing!
