Garden Update!

Oh yes, it’s that time again – time for a garden update from yours truly.

It’s mostly pictures again, but that’s what you’re all itching for anyway, right? Right. So, here we go.

Well, first, verbal updates. A sad farewell to a few of our plants that did not come up, or did not do well because of timing or soil or whatever (mostly timing): eggplant, broccoli, and tomatillo, fare thee well. We shall try again later. (Also, there are some lingering tomatillo plants at work from our classroom seed starting project, so I’m hoping to transplant those and try again, if they haven’t died in the past couple of days of my not being there to water them. Cross your collective fingers!)

Okay, NOW to the pictures.

Row One – bell peppers are doing fabulously.
Row Two: Cucumbers and daikon and lettuce, oh my! (Also, hot peppers and okra, but that didn’t fit the rule of three.)
Getting up close and personal with some cucumbers.
Row Three is feelin’ fine with some borage shoots, squash, and tomatoes. I also recently transplanted some beet and bean seedlings, so we’ll see how that goes.
Squaaaaaaaaaaash.
More squash, with flowers! Mmm, hopefully squash fruits soon.
Tomatoes! One in a cage. I put the other two in cages, with only one minor casualty to a “branch.” I apologized a lot to the tomato. It’s important to talk to your plants.
Our daikon is doing quite nicely, yes it is.
More daikon! Daikon forever!
Daikon is very photogenic. It also makes good kimchi. Maybe pickles.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have tomato fruits! It’s a miracle.
Here a fruit…
There a fruit, everywhere a fruit fruit! (And my gloved hand at the top. What can I say? I’m a star.)

Stay tuned for more updates – I’ll be here all summer. And fall. And winter.

I’ll just be here. Hooray, plants!
